Johanna Bloomfield, the designer behind Johannes Faktotum, likes her models big and muscled. Her presentation was packed with them, a welcome respite to the angular waifs dominating the other men’s shows.
The glaring sun may have been ill-suited for the collection, who’s theme, according to Johanna, was “dressing for the elements,” and was stocked with rain boots and trenches.
“I had a vintage sportsman in mind,” she explained.
Bloomfield smartly utilized mosquito netting for a top and shorts combination, as well as a few pocketed and sleeveless shirts in solid greys and greens. Stylist Jason Farrer’s touches popped up here and there, once in the form of a Hannibal Lecter mask. Overall, a smart, clean, and occasionally subversive presentation.
