SUMMER 2012

GUCCI LAUNCHES A PARTNERSHIP WITH CHRISTIE’S AUCTION HOUSE

| May 9, 2012

Every season, we here at VMAN tout key investment pieces that are worth splurging on; you think about the item’s longevity, cost per wear, the intangible value of quality and status, but it’s rare that you ever think about a return on your investment. Enter the online appraisal service, Gucci Collector: Presented by Christie’s, an historic collaboration between the venerable auction house and the House of Gucci.

Devotees can upload images of their vintage items to the Christie’s website, where their authenticity and value will be determined by a team of experts including Christie’s specialists as well as Gucci’s own in-house archivists. If you’re willing to part with your heritage Gucci crocodile briefcase, select owners will have the opportunity to sell their rare or historically significant items to Gucci, or in a future Christie’s auction.

Gucci has transcended the fashion investment piece to become an object of fine art (and perhaps a smart financial investment as well).
