CARD SHARP

Johnny Misheff | October 2, 2009

“The only thing I’ve ever committed to is my press. No man has ever gotten this much attention.” So says Amber McMillan as her hand rests on the prized Chandler & Price Platen Press circa somewhere around the 1890s she acquired a few years ago. McMillan is the CEO and sole employee at Post Editions, a boutique Brooklyn-based letter-press company. Some of the vintage presses are as big as tanks and weigh just under a ton.

With the advent of Facebook and other networking sites, business cards are less and less necessary. A business card has an aura of old world class to it, and Post Editions is a much chicer way to get them then some laser printed Kinko’s monstrosity.

…It is less and less necessary, but machines like that on the pic are beautiful, they have a lot of history to “tell”..
