CLAE-MATE

While California-based Clae makes footwear for the modern man, his inspiration is anything but new. In fact, while his creations are inspired by art, music, film, travel, and culture, he gives his modernized kicks a little bit of old school flair. Each of his shoes are named after cultural icons, paying homage to the likes of Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington and Romare Beardon.  But aside from the high-brow pedigree, the sneakers are made to be accessible for all different types of guys.  With comfort and versatility at the forefront of each collection, Clae’s Creative Director Sung Choi aims for a timeless, understated design that can satisfy style-conscious consumers and those looking to graduate into sneakers beyond the typical sport or skate variety.  The second half of the fall collection is hitting stores now and includes the work boot-inspired Jones and well as the Zissou, which features boat shoe details.  See the full line at www.clae.com and retailers like Barneys.
