For nearly two decades, the UK’s Comet Gain have been steering a musical narrative concurrent with the one we all feel like we inhabit, especially in the fall. With odes to comfort of a spinning record and homages to heroes past and present—including Orange Juice’s Edwyn Collins, who helped produce much of their new record—Howl of the Lonely Crowd (available now on What’s Your Rupture?) sees the evolving band of nostalgic melody makers doing more of what they do best, and it’s one of our favorite records of the season.
