The torrent of rain last Thursday was no match for the allure of a new hotel opening in downtown New York, as the media and fashion worlds converged upon Crosby Street for the opening of the Morgans Hotel Group’s latest outpost: the Mondrian Soho. The site of our VMAN 21 Launch Party during the structure’s final days of construction, the Mondrian has since been completed to stunning effect, complete with blue-mirrored walls, a new restaurant (Imperial No. Nine, by Top Chef alum Sam Talbot), crystal chandeliers, four penthouse suits, and 270 rooms. The kick start was a roaring one, thanks in no small part to a clanging and sweaty performance by The Kills, who tore through a set of old and new tracks as the crowd sipped on Deleon tequila cocktails. Check out some photos from the event after the jump.
