For his Fall 2009 Jil Sander collection, Raf Simons took a minimalist approach, favoring stark corseted jackets and slacks in black and gray to the yellow color-block blazers of last season. Featuring a similarly simple aesthetic is Jil Sander’s new Spring/Summer line, Denim for Men, now available in stores. It offers everything you’ve come to expect from the designer, including sharp, clean lines and a soft color palette, all made entirely in denim in washes that range from pure white to deep blue. The five-pocket jeans and trousers are slim and tailored and the jackets come equipped with constructed lapels and shoulder pads. And you can pair your new denim suit with a sleek pair of shades from Jil Sander’s new sunwear collection (look for eyewear coming this April). The eight men’s models include both classic styles like aviators and more modern shapes; in addition to the more conventional colors, each comes in at least one outrageous hue—think bright purple and electric blue—offering a perfect complement to the monochromatic suiting and the finishing touch to a sophisticated but relaxed spring wardrobe.
