Naming has consequences and in the world of fashion all the more so. Sunshine State native and bassist Jon Paul (Ford Men), for example, boasts a name that bears affinity to both the sacred and profane by way of an unlikely pair of John Pauls—from the the Vatican and Zeppelin, respectively. The tension latent in this 18-year-old’s name has certainly blessed a young career that began in earnest with an Alexander Wang menswear launch lookbook shoot on his very first day as a model. Jon Paul’s second booking duly followed with VMAN’s Tom Van Dorpe, which the striking 6’1 1/2″ (187 cm) blond met with all the panache expected of a stadium rock performance before 85,000 screaming fans. Jon Paul’s cred isn’t limited to pop music—though being ranked Florida’s #1 bassist for his age bracket certainly doesn’t hurt—as he was brought to the attention of Ford Men by none other than Ford’s Rachel Clark . That Jon Paul is also the VMAN model of the week lends further credence to the possibility that he is truly set to shake the temples of fashion.Damien Neva
