NYC-based DJ Kingdom (Ezra Rubin) relocated to Los Angeles last year, and has since built up a steady Ustream of collaborations and club nights with local DJs like Total Freedom and NGUZUNGUZU. This summer, Rubin launches his own record label, FADE TO MIND, as a stateside counterpoint to U.K. bass heavyweight Night Slugs. “There is so much happening in America, but I felt like there was no real home for the type of music we’re making except for labels outside of the U.S.,” Rubin said recently at the inaugural Fade To Mind club night at Submercer in New York. Now, with an EP release by NGUZU and upcoming releases by MikeQ and Prince William, that problem seems to be rectified. Yesterday, retail site oki-ni posted a new mix by DJ Kingdom, featuring tracks from the labels first EP, songs from Kingdom himself, and appearances from MNDR, Mike Q, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Addison Groove, and more.
