New York Fashion Week regulars have come to expect a few things from Scott Sternberg’s Band of Outsiders presentation: long lines, elaborate sets, possibly sightings of Kanye West and/or Kirsten Dunst, and meticulously crafted style straight from a Wes Anderson film and/or your childhood. But those are kind of the same thing anyway. For spring ’11 Sternberg paired drawstring pants with shrunken blazers, leaving a sharp, casual effortlessness in each look. Any look that ventured too far in either direction was reeled in by a carefully placed baseball cap or bow tie. It’s what you picture everyone wearing in Los Angeles, or at least an ideal of LA where everyone has houseboats.
