Designers David Neville and Marcus Wainwright didn’t feel the need to mask inspirations for their Spring collection. American work wear was on full display, yet there was no exploitative aesthetic of minimum wage factory workers. Neville and Wainwright took the fabric and silhouette of the blue-collar man and worked them into the narrative of Rag & Bone. True, there was a denim onesie and a pair of overalls, but also a poncho and trench made from the same swath of the most American of fabrics. They worked with teal, orange, and mustard along with tanks, windbreakers, and perfectly tailored sports jackets, all creating just enough room between inspiration and execution to add a palpable feeling of luster and intrigue to a show with real depth.
