Odyn Vovk

| September 11, 2009

Odyn Vovk means “one wolf” in Ukranian, the mother tongue of LA-based designer Austin Sherbanenko. His Spring collection, presented on Wednesday night at the St. Marks Church, favored heavy wools and heavier leathers (elephant hide, waxed kangaroo skin), cut into shorts, sleeveless vests, and legging-like jeans. Some pieces seemed a bit wintery for a Spring collection, but the fits and aesthetic were on point. If there’s a goth vibe in the air right now, Sherbanenko certainly taps into it, adding something of his own Slavic-by-way-of-Los-Angeles death-metal spin to things.

Incredible! Lookout for this kid. Also, those accessories by Black Sheep and Prodigal Sons were amazing, just so right together. Congrats, boys!
