PEOPLE OF THE SYNTH: FRKWAYS VOL. 7

June 29, 2011

New York record label RVNG Intl. is known for its “FRKWAYS” series of special-edition 12-inches, in which it pairs contemporary musicians with their genre forebears, resulting in a one-time-only collaboration experience. For Volume 7 of the series, RVNG has put together a “synth ensemble”, consisting of new Brooklyn luminaries like Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrix Point Never, Ford & Lopatin), Laurel Halo, Samuel Godin, and James Ferraro. Also in the mix: minimalist composer David Borden, founder of the legendary synth project Mother Mallard’s Portable Masterpiece Company in 1969.

Recorded over two days, the sessions will be available as full takes, available July 17 on CD and LP, and as a digital download on igetrvng.com July 30.

For now, take a listen to the first released track, “People of the Wind Pt. 2″:
