Only a few women in Rock n’ Roll possess the stage presence, charisma, energy and swagger that will drive an audience into a musical frenzy. Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Alison Mosshart of The Kills and Emily Haines of Metric immediately come to mind. Now, another dynamic performer, Alexis Krauss of the Sleigh Bells joins their rank as a truly kick ass woman of Rock n’ Roll.

Sleigh Bells are “American Noise Rock” comprised of Alexis and Derek Miller (formerly the guitarist for hardcore ”Poison the Well”). The duo mix hard sounding chords with electro pop beat making a sound that has Krause’s melodic voice paired with Miller’s edgy and heavy metal chords.

Sleigh Bells performed to an enthusiastic and very sold out crowd at Webster Hall on May 11th. Aaron Stern was on stage with the band to capture these images.
