Sonic Youth, Yoko Ono, Mike Patton, Sean Lennon, Cibo Matto, and more musicians will converge upon the Miller Theatre at Columbia University this Sunday at 8PM to play an epic tribute to aid recovery efforts in Japan. While the show is currently sold out, fans can still get a piece of the action by bidding on these rare posters and custom Vans from the band on Ebay. The items are original relics from the era of 1992′s Dirty LP. Proceeds from the winning bid will go to an organization called ShelterBoxUSA.org, who are providing shelter and amenities to Japan’s displaced homeless population.
Now please indulge us in taking this as an excuse to post this rare VHS recording of the band’s first-ever TV performance on the Late Show with David Letterman. Where were you in ’92?
