Memories of Myself is an astonishing collection by the renowned photojournalist Danny Lyon. Immersing himself in disparate milieus (biker gangs, impoverished Southern families, 1960s small town Texas transsexuals), Lyon creates images that are emotionally charged and rife with mysterious back story – many were deemed too controversial to print at the time. Comprised of work from the 1960s until 2002, Memories of Myself pairs the images with Lyon’s own diaries, which are often as affecting as the photos. Memories of Myself is a truly powerful and narrative collection.
