Bjørg is a new jewelry line out of Oslo. It’s unisex and a lot of the pieces work great on a guy. You’ll see more about them in the upcoming Scandinavian issue of VMAN. In the mean time, check out this short film inspired by Bjørg’s latest collection. Mathias Eriksen, half of film-making duo Matias&Mathias, and the young son of Bjørg’s founder and designer, had this to say about the work:
“We sought to make a film that should not make sense, but at the same time, should feel perfectly natural. As the whole theme of the film is memory and our perception of memories, we wanted to find a way to illustrate how time and space interact and form as images/memories, without being direct and/or conclusive.
We were really inspired by Chris Marker and his film “La Jetee”, not necessarily the style and look of his film, but the structure and how it feels to watch it (if that makes any sense). To make something that will translate the feeling of memory, and in our case to do it in two minutes, that was our goal really. We’re also huge fans of Luis Bunuel, and I think we were very much influenced by how he would use contradictions and images that would not always match your initial expectations to create something that, in the end, would be a lot more rewarding. Dreams and memory are very much a recurring theme with him as well.
“We shot everything in and around Oslo, right before the snowfall last year.”
Check out the film by the same guys on Bjørg’s website www.bjorgjewellery.com. It’s equally cool.
