SPORTS HEROES

Sure fashion comes first in the VMAN universe, but over the years we’ve welcomed a few sports superheroes to the fold as well. David Sims’s stark 2003 cover of David Beckham made us see the soccer star in a new, sensitive light. Ditto for Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin’s 2007 cover story of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who looked perfectly poised and even quite chic in his black-and-white shots
