July 2, 2009

VMAN is honored to announce the finalists for the VMAN Model Search: D’Marco Jones(right) and Daiv Ambrose(left). The boys were personally chosen from 5,000 candidates by iconic photographer Nick Knight and renowned stylist Simon Foxton. Knight will be shooting both lads in London. The session will be broadcast live on SHOWstudio.com from 7:00am on Monday July 6th, 2009. One of the lucky guys will make it to the cover of VMAN16 and score a contract from FORD Models.

SHOWstudio.com will be broadcasting the whole event live from the studio floor, with streaming video, written blogs and constant Twitter updates detailing every moment of the action. SEPERATE VACATION

June 30, 2009

You need to upgrade your Flash Player to version 8 or later.

“Melinda” is acclaimed French filmmaker and writer Samuel Benchetrit’s quiet, romantic short that is a companion piece to Yves Saint Laurent’s Collection Homme Printemps/Eté 2010. The film, a quiet black and white meditation of what a bored youth will get up to when left to his own devices in his father’s hotel room, was played before the runway show of creative director Stefano Pilati’s well-received collection. VMAN is honored to present it in its entirety.

MODEL CONTESTANTS RULE FASHION WEEK

Charlotte Rey | June 30, 2009

The past winners of the VMAN Model Search were certainly a presence on the runways of Milan and Paris – further proving that our contest is different from the others in that our models actually have careers afterwards! And we couldn’t be prouder.

Jake and CJ were booked exclusively to walk in the Calvin Klein show. Last year’s runner-up, AJ, bagged Bottega Veneta, Calvin Klein, Cavalli, Neil Barret, Z Zegna, Dolce and Gabbana, and YSL. Last year’s finalist, Aiden, strutted at Burberry Prorsum, Hermes, and YSL. 2008’s winner, Petey, did Cavalli, YSL and Calvin Klein Jeans.

As of press time, no winners of America’s Next Top Model could be found.

PAUL SMITH

Nathalie Fraser | June 30, 2009

The news of Michael Jackson’s demise echoed throughout men’s fashion week, as everywhere. But who would provide the finest tribute ? It came – in his usual fun-filled style – from Paul Smith, who closed fashion week with an impressive, colour-filled show and a fantastic finale. As Thriller boomed from the speakers, Sir Paul busted his finest Jackson moves down the catwalk with his boys. Top choreography marks to Josh Beech, Ash Stymest and Will Eustace. The audience might have been exhausted after a mixed season, but they left the venue with mighty big smiles on their faces.

BLACKBERRY DISPATCH: Balenciaga

Benjamin Bruno | June 30, 2009

The collection is see-able on private appointment only. Sharply bigbanging metatextual architecture and laboratory geometry, Nicolas Ghesquiere for SS10 Balenciaga menswear pioneers a cutting edge thunderring japanese techno-texture grammar where past anterior tailoring vocabulary and future anterior forwardthinkingness collide in a edgy coitus of sharp frontalness. Cyberdogish pilgrim samourai long pant-kilts are exchanging telepathic signals with DNA-enhanced spacebaseball leather cocoon-disrupted jackets - a violently orgasmic blueprint-reshuffling ultimateness of statement. Big meta-fashion. Big.
